Comments:

Originally a J3 Cub, this aircraft was meticulously upgraded by its previous owner over many years. It was converted into a Raven aircraft by installing clipped wings and a tail section, essentially transforming it into a PA-18 Super Cub. The aircraft was then placed into the Amateur Built category, where it was exceptionally well-maintained and regularly flown by the last owner. Throughout its life, the aircraft has always been stored indoors, and it remains in indoor storage today.

After the owner’s passing, the engine was pickled and preserved. It has very low time and recently underwent an experimental overhaul by Progressive Air in 2009. The conversion was also completed in 2009. Currently, the engine has only 190 hours since the overhaul. The fixed-pitch propeller will require its 5-year inspection, but it appears to be in good condition and is expected to pass easily; however, a certified engineer should confirm this. The engine compartment is clean and well-maintained.

With prior notice and deposits in place, the aircraft can be de-preserved for run-ups and inspections.

The aircraft comes with certified skis and additional gear, including 8.5-inch and 26-inch tires. All paperwork is present, along with records for the conversion and drawings for the clipped wings. The conversion appears to have been completed professionally, and the plane was flown for years afterward. Although it hasn’t been flown since 2020 due to the previous owner’s passing, it has been continuously stored indoors, and the engine was pickled years ago. The decision to sell was made because the previous owner’s children do not have time to fly the aircraft.

This aircraft would be an excellent choice for an enthusiast. It is relatively inexpensive to operate and maintain, easy to fly, and highly versatile, offering the classic performance for which the Super Cub is known.
